Required Documents

• Original Emirates ID or a digital copy of their latest Emirates ID from the ICA app.
• Applicants must submit a copy of their passport with a unified number
• An eye test report from your driving school or RTA-approved eye test centers in Dubai, UAE.

Those applying for a heavy truck driving license who have obtained a driving license from another country must also provide the following:

• Original Home Country-driving license issued from the same vehicle category (or similar).
• It is important to note that valid and expired (less than 10 years) driving licenses are acceptable.
• If the heavy truck driving license is not issued in English or Arabic, applicants must get it legally translated at any legal translation typing office in Dubai.
• Individuals who have lost their heavy truck driving license and need to possess valid proof of it must seek and submit a letter from the consulate of their home country along with a clear color copy of their Home Country Driving License. This document will then be subject to approval by the RTA (Roads & Transport Authority).

2. Theory Lectures

Attend the theory 9 lectures online or in the driving school conducted by your heavy vehicle driving institute in Dubai. These classes are designed to teach you about the regulations, laws, and safety measures associated with heavy truck driving and how to maintain and use heavy vehicles appropriately.

3. Theory Test

Once the lectures have been completed, you will need to take a theory test conducted by Dubai’s heavy vehicle driving institute. This test encompasses everything taught during your classes and will assess how well you understand heavy truck driving regulations, laws, and safety measures.

4. Practical Traning

Now, you can start your heavy truck driving training, which is done in the heavy vehicle driving institute’s vehicles. Minimum 10 hours. This involves learning how to drive heavy trucks and understanding the basics of truck driving, such as loading and unloading cargo, parking, turning, and changing lanes. During this stage, you will also learn how to maintain a heavy

5. 1 Hour Night Training

You will also be required to complete one hour of night training designed to teach you how to drive heavy trucks at night. This training will help you understand how to navigate heavy trucks at night.

6. Initial Driving Assessment

This initial heavy truck driving assessment ensures you have learned all the necessary skills to drive a heavy truck. This test is conducted by an instructor at your heavy vehicle driving institute in Dubai and will assess how well you understand heavy truck driving regulations, laws, and safety measures.

7. RTA Yard Test

Once you have completed the initial heavy truck driving assessment, you must take a yard test at an RTA-approved heavy vehicle driving institute in Dubai. This test aims to determine if your heavy truck driving skills are satisfactory enough to pass the heavy truck driver’s license exam.

8. Trailer Training

You will also need to complete additional heavy truck driving training, including trailer training. This involves learning how to drive heavy trucks with a trailer attached. During this training, you will learn how to safely and securely attach a trailer to heavy trucks and properly maneuver heavy trucks with a trailer attached.

9. Trailer Initial Driving Assessment Training

Once you have completed the heavy truck and trailer training, you will need to take an initial driving assessment. This assessment is conducted by a heavy vehicle driving institute in Dubai and is designed to assess how well you understand heavy truck and trailer regulations, laws, and safety measures.

10. RTA Road Test

Once you have completed the heavy truck and trailer initial driving assessment, you will need to take an RTA road test. This is the final step of obtaining your heavy truck driver’s license in Dubai. This test aims to determine if your heavy truck driving skills are satisfactory enough to pass the heavy truck driver’s license exam.

11. Driving Test Collection.

How Much Does It Cost to Get a Truck License in Dubai

The cost of a heavy truck driving license in Dubai is dependent on the heavy vehicle driving institute you choose to attend. Generally, it costs between AED 5,000-5,500 for the heavy truck driving license course. This cost covers all the heavy truck driving training and tests mentioned above, as well as any additional training you may need.

The fixed package can cost you between AED 11,000-12,000.

The weekend packages generally cost an additional AED 1000 – 2,000. However, this allows you to obtain your license while maintaining a full-time job.
