Emirates Driving Institute (EDI): Fees, Timings & Packages
Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) is an RTA-approved driving school headquartered in Al Qusais, Dubai, that has trained drivers since 1991. It runs more than 55 branches across Dubai, Ajman, and Hatta, with main training-and-testing centres in Al Qusais and Al Quoz, and offers car, motorcycle, and heavy-vehicle courses plus refresher training.
What courses does EDI offer?
EDI trains drivers for car (light motor vehicle), motorcycle, and heavy-vehicle licences, and offers refresher courses for existing licence holders. The number of required training hours depends on your driving experience: beginners take 20 hours, drivers with 2 to 5 years' experience take 15 hours, and those with more than 5 years take 10 hours.
Theory test and RTA practice
EDI includes free theory lectures in its packages. Practise free with our RTA theory test mock tests to prepare for the official computer test before you sit it.
EDI fees
EDI prices its car course by your driving experience and transmission type. The Regular package starting fees are:

These Regular fees include free theory lectures, RTA fees of AED 1,350, and your first attempt at the theory, parking, assessment, and road tests. The 5% VAT and the eye test are charged separately, and night, weekend, and flexible-shift training cost more.
The Fixed Price package covers unlimited training and re-tests until you pass, with a 10% registration discount, starting around AED 7,952 for automatic. Gold and Platinum packages add flexible scheduling, a dedicated liaison officer, and luxury training cars.
You pay a minimum AED 600 advance to register. EDI also runs seasonal special offers and multi-course discounts, so ask about current promotions.

Note: On Friday there is a prayer break from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Timings change during Ramadan and public holidays, so confirm with your branch.
How to transfer your file to EDI
If you started training at another school and want to move to EDI, bring the following documents to begin your training:
- A valid passport copy with your Dubai residence visa.
- Two passport-size photographs.
- Your original file from the traffic department with a valid learning permit.
- A letter from your previous school stating the number of classes taken, plus a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- Your original Emirates ID.
