Dubai speeding fines range from AED 300 to AED 3,000, depending on how far over the limit you go. Serious cases also add black points and a vehicle impound. The amounts follow the federal traffic law, so they apply across the UAE.

More than 80 km/hAED 3,0002360 days

Driving below the minimum speed on a highway is also an offence, at AED 400 and 4 black points.

Is there a speed buffer in Dubai?

Many Dubai roads have long applied a buffer of about 20 km/h over the posted limit before a camera triggers, so a 100 km/h road might not flash until around 120 km/h. The buffer is not guaranteed and has been removed on some roads, so treat the posted limit as the real limit.

How do black points and impound work?

Serious speeding adds 6 to 23 black points at once. If you reach 24 points in a 12-month period, your license is suspended. The vehicle impound on the top tiers runs from 15 to 60 days, and you collect the car after the period ends and the fees are paid.

How to check and pay a speeding fine

Check a fine on the Dubai Police website or app, or the RTA Dubai Drive app, by searching with your plate or traffic file number, and pay online, at service centers, or at authorised banks. You can see how speeding compares with other penalties in the complete list of Dubai traffic fines.

How to avoid speeding fines

  • Treat the posted limit as the real limit, since the buffer is not reliable.
  • Use cruise control on highways to hold a steady speed.
  • Slow down in school zones, work zones, and residential areas where limits drop.

Does a speeding fine affect insurance?

Yes. Speeding violations and black points can raise your insurance premium at renewal. The same is true of other serious offences, such as crossing a red signal.
